Description
This Diploma is recognised by the Federation
of Holistic Therapists and The
Guild for full membership.
Classes are held over 15 class days - 2 days per month over 7
months. Each day runs from 9.30am to 5.30pm with a one hour break
for lunch. There is also a short break each morning and afternoon.
Class sizes are small to ensure close personal supervision at
all times.
A significant amount of home study and background reading is necessary.
Students should set aside approximately four to five hours per
week to work on home assignments.
A recommended reading list is supplied at the beginning of the
course.
Course Content
The school is now offering the new 7 module
qualification, which is made up of the following:
1. Business Practice for complementary therapies
2. Principles and practice for complementary therapies
3. Health, safety and hygiene for complementary therapies
4. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary
therapies
5 Knowledge of less common pathology for complementary therapies
6. Provide body massage for complementary therapies
7. Reflective practice for body massage
Teaching Methods
The educational aims are to develop the in-depth knowledge and
skill required to provide safe and effective treatments.
The following methods are used:
• Lectures and visual aids
• Detailed demonstrations and practice of techniques
• Handouts and workbooks
• Supervised practice and individual practical experience
• Open discussion periods with course tutor
• Presentation of detailed case studies
• Monitored home assignments
• Continuous assessment by course tutor of the development
of personal qualities required of a professional practitioner
• Individual tutorial sessions with course tutor
Class Size
A maximum of 10 students per class allows
the tutor to monitor individual progress and development. Students
work in pairs during practical sessions. Students receive ongoing
support throughout the course.
Evidence of Achievement
Students will be required to show achievement
of a range of relevant learning outcomes and assessment criteria,
as set by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT).
• Three practical assessments
• Presentation of 30 case study treatments
• Portfolio of evidence
There is no final written examination for the Body Massage. There
will be a final multiple choice examination only for the Anatomy
and Physiology. Students will prepare, under the guidance of the
course tutor, a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that they
have covered and achieved all the required learning outcomes.
Qualification Attained
Students will gain the VTCT Level
3 Diploma in Body Massage.
Entrance Requirements
Applicants must be 19 years or over. No
formal qualifications are necessary.

quickly.
Course Fees
The cost of the course is £1050.
In addition, students are required to pay £16
to become a lifetime member of VTCT (this is a one time payment),
and £87 registration fee for the diploma (VTCT) - both amounts
to be paid at enrolment on the first day. These charges may be
